I think it's fair to say legalization (compared to decriminalization) has had NO benefits.

No, users can and should be allowed to delete individual posts (and their accounts). Users, not platforms, own the copyrights on posts.
But the platforms should not be allowed to make permanent RETROACTIVE account bans - that is, hide content that they've already allowed.
ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS SHOULD BE BANNED FROM DELETING EXISTING CONTENT EVEN IF THEY STOP ACCOUNTS FROM MAKING NEW POSTS
